REVIEW: 2012

I will admit, I'm not big on special-effects, manufactured, phony blockbuster movies.  I prefer intelligent, witty, well-acted films.  While I do enjoy the occasional mindless, mind-numbing, viewing of a celebrity-filled movie, I'm more excited by thoughtful, mind-provoking shows.

I watched the movie "2012" the other day.  The end of the world as we know it.  Raging tsunamis, explosive volcanic eruptions, underwater chaos.  Um.  Ok, I tried to pretend that I enjoyed the movie, but honestly, it just plain sucked.

Rolling of eyes, fidgeting in seat, sighing uncontrollably- that was me during the agonizing 2.5 hours of this movie!  The only reason I stayed was because my boyfriend Jason and I had been invited by another couple, and of which was our very first double date.  You know how you have to pretend you like talking about "him" on your very first one-on-one date?  This was exactly the case.  We couldn't just get up and leave because that would be rude.

Anyway, I realize that is a topic for another post, so I will leave it at that. But post your opinion about either.... the crappiness of "2012" (beware of posting your support for the movie!), or the dating sitch you may be in!  What's up with you?

  1. I don't think going to a movie is any better a first double date than it is as a first date for a single couple. Isn't the point of a date (especially the first) to get to know each other? How the heck are you supposed to do that sitting quietly in the dark for over 2 hours?

    That's my 2 cents.

  2. I like your two cents, DaigleDog. I forgot to mention we did go for dinner for about 2 hours prior to the movie.... so needless to say, we were D-O-N-E with the talking, anyway! But given a choice of watching "2012" for another 2.5 hours or talking with another lovely couple for 50 hours, I'd pick the talking!!!
